Just 800 metres from our hotel you’ll find Central Station, the public transport centre of Sydney. From here you can catch trains, buses or trams to all Sydney's suburbs, the CBD and our beautiful beaches.
Central Railway Hotel is just minutes from world-class shopping, Sydney’s best entertainment venues and, of course, the stunning view at Circular Quay. Shopping highlights include Pitt Street Mall – home to the flagship Westfield Mall and the Victorian Strand Arcade – and the QVB, arguably one of the world’s most beautiful historical shopping centres.
Previously known as the Sydney Football Stadium, the Allianz Stadium is located right next to the Sydney Cricket Ground and plays host to Rugby League, Union and football matches, as well as concerts by some of the world’s biggest music stars. Recently refurbished, it now has a capacity of over 45,500 (44,000 seated). This amazing venue played host to the Football in the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG)
The Sydney Cricket Ground is used for Test cricket, One Day International cricket and Twenty20 cricket as well as Australian Rules football, and some Rugby League and Rugby Union matches. Seating up to 46,000 sports fans, it’s an amazing venue for a sporting day out and just 3.4km from the Central Railway Hotel.
Royal Randwick Racecourse
Royal Randwick Racecourse is a world-class six-level grandstand and track spread over 200 acres with 15 unique indoor and outdoor spaces. The racecourse is used for conferences, exhibitions, trade events, shows, dinners, music festivals, corporate days and, of course, horse racing. Located in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, Randwick Racecourse is approximately 4.6km from The Central Railway hotel.
Sydney Olympic Park
Located 16 kilometres west of Sydney in Homebush, Sydney Olympic Park is a 30min train journey from the Central Railway Hotel. Built for the Sydney 2000 Olympics, the park continues to be used for sporting and cultural events, including the Sydney Royal Easter Show, the Sydney Festival, the Big Day Out, Sydney 500 and Soundwave. It’s also host to a huge number of word-class sporting fixtures. The park and surrounding area (formerly the Athletes Village) is now a suburb in its own right and packed with bars, restaurants, and activities for kids and grown-ups.
Surry Hills has a unique and creative atmosphere with leafy streets and historic houses. Once Sydney’s poorest area, today Surry Hills is a trendy urban village, packed with world-class restaurants, hipster vintage clothing boutiques and great bars.
Crown Street lies at the heart of this fashionable suburb and is home to some of Sydney’s best restaurants, bars, art galleries and boutique shops.
Originally a commercial port, Darling Harbour was developed into a tourist precinct in the late 1980s. Just a short walk from our hotel you’ll find some of Sydney’s star attractions including the Australian Maritime Museum, The Sydney Aquarium, Wild Life Sydney, The Powerhouse Museum, the Chinese Garden of Friendship, the IMAX cinema (the world’s biggest screen), Cockle Bay and King Street wharves (for fine dining and busy bars) and much more.
Central Railway Hotel is just a short walk from the heart of Sydney’s thriving Chinese community, packed with Asian restaurants and eateries and home to the Friday night Chinese Night Markets. You’ll also find the famous Paddy’s Market here, where you can buy pretty much anything under one roof.
